therapy may be a good fit for you, if…

…you are looking for support with self-exploration & self-esteem; experiencing relationship stress, depression or anxiety; adjusting to parenthood or big changes; or if you just feel like you need somewhere to unpack what you've been carrying for too long. I love therapy because it gives that stuff some room to breathe by being seen and discussed openly, in a confidential and trusting space. And that then gives YOU room to breathe. And reboot. And make plans for what comes next.

frequently asked questions

how long does it take to get better?

The timeline for therapy is unique to each individual and the specific nature of your challenge. There are certainly some folks who notice a tension-release immediately after speaking in a candid way about something they’ve been holding within themselves for a long time.

The vast majority of clients I serve have been with me for a year or longer, and many have been with me for years. The work I love to do in therapy usually centers around relational exploration, psychodynamic inquiry and deep self stuff. This has a tendency to be rich, long-term work.

Is telehealth a good fit for everyone?

While I feel strongly that telehealth therapy is a powerful tool for many people, it is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach. For some clinical situations, telehealth is not ideal and in-person therapy is more appropriate. For example, if someone is struggling with leaving the home and hoping to work on expanding this part of themselves, they may benefit from having an office to meet at. If someone is unable to access a private space to have session at home, they may benefit from having access to an in person office.

I’ve never been to therapy. What should i expect in getting started?

Each therapist is unique and each client’s needs are unique. The most important thing to expect is that the provider you work with will take the time to understand your challenges and goals and adapt the therapy to help you meet those. Your therapist should be compassionate, thoughtful and entirely present with you during sessions. In beginning work with me, I schedule a 15 minute introductory check in call to hear whats happening and so you can see me and check out if I feel like a good fit. If I do, we schedule your first initial intake session (basically a good solid hour of exploring and questions to get to know you), and then we go from there.

how do i pay for therapy?

Some providers accept insurance while others choose not to. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, Harvard Pilgrim and United Insurance. I charge a private pay rate of $125/hr for those who want to pursue therapy outside of insurance. I also maintain a select few sliding scale slots that have a lower payment rate for people who cannot afford this rate.

I recommend exploring Open Path Collective if you’re looking for sliding scale private pay therapists in your area.
